I’m Bartłomiej Warias, a WordPress engineer with 8+ years of building sites that have to be fast, accessible and easy to maintain — for financial institutions, fintech products, global consumer brands and online marketplaces.

I work where WordPress stops being a template and becomes a product: custom blocks for editorial teams, integrations with banks and payment providers, headless front ends, multisite platforms, and the infrastructure that keeps all of it boring in production. You can read how I think on this blog, see the kind of work I do on the projects page, and check my contributions on WordPress.org.

What I can do for you

Your company’s WordPress developer — without hiring one

Most companies don’t need a WordPress team. They need one senior person who knows all their sites inside out: keeps them updated, secure and fast, ships the new landing page before the campaign, answers the marketing team’s questions the same day, and talks to the hosting provider so nobody else has to. That’s the role I want: a long-term, dedicated developer for your company’s WordPress sites, on a monthly retainer, working with your team as if I were in-house.

WordPress performance audit

Your site is slow, the server bill keeps growing, or Core Web Vitals are red. I profile the real bottlenecks — slow and repeated queries, autoloaded options, uncached remote calls, heavy plugins, front-end weight — and hand you a prioritised report with estimated impact. If you want, I implement the fixes too.

Custom Gutenberg blocks and block themes

Editors who can build pages without calling a developer. I’ve built well over a hundred custom blocks — native React blocks with @wordpress/scripts and ACF blocks — plus full-site-editing themes driven by theme.json, with a design system your designers will recognise.

Plugins, integrations and headless WordPress

Custom plugins and REST APIs: loan and pricing calculators, payment and subscription flows, CRM and e-commerce integrations, data imports, and WordPress as a back end for Vue, Angular or mobile apps — with authentication, caching and security done properly.

Accessibility (WCAG) audit and fixes

With the European Accessibility Act in force, accessibility is a legal requirement for many businesses, not a nice-to-have. I’m a certified WCAG accessibility expert: I audit themes and content against WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 AA, fix the code, and give your editors simple guidelines so the site stays compliant.

Deployment, hosting and DevOps

From “we upload files over FTP” to automated, repeatable releases: Docker images, CI pipelines with code-quality gates, zero-drama deploys, hardened servers, Redis and full-page caching, and migrations to cheaper or faster hosting.

Rescue, maintenance and code review

Inherited a site nobody wants to touch? I’ll review the codebase, upgrade it to current PHP and WordPress safely, remove what’s dangerous, and either keep maintaining it or leave it documented so your team can. Also available as a second pair of eyes on your agency’s or in-house team’s code.

How I work

  • Remote, B2B, from Poland (CET) — overlapping comfortably with UK and EU business hours.
  • Fixed-price for well-defined work like audits; hourly or monthly retainer for ongoing development and maintenance.
  • Directly with you or white-label for agencies. Happy to sign an NDA before we talk details.
  • Code you own: in your repository, tested, linted and documented — no lock-in to me.
  • English and Polish.
